Arun Taneja

Founder & Consulting Analyst

Arun Taneja is the Founder, President and Consulting Analyst of the Taneja Group, an analyst and consulting group focused on storage and storage-centric server technologies. From late 2000 to early 2003 he was a Senior Analyst at the Enterprise Storage Group, an analyst group focused on storage technologies. He has 25 years experience in the industry specifically in the areas of Servers, Operating systems, File Systems, Storage Area Networks, Network Attached Storage, FC, iSCSI and InfiniBand, Clustering and Storage Management Software (backup/restore, replication, snapshot, SRM, virtualization, etc.).

Arun has held various executive level positions in marketing and engineering with companies like Sun Microsystems, IBM, Data General, Vixel and Andataco. He specializes in identifying technologies that have disruptive market potential and assisting companies with market positioning and strategy. He works with a number of VC’s in assessing technologies (FC, iSCSI, InfiniBand and others) and companies. He speaks often at trade shows, customer and industry events and writes on technology trends and implications for IT in the mid to large enterprises. He is frequently quoted in the press as an industry expert in storage networking. Arun holds a Bachelor’s in Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India and an MSEE and MBA from the University of New Hampshire.

Jeff Byrne

Senior Analyst & Consultant

Jeff brings to Taneja Group more than 20 years of marketing and operational experience at a variety of infrastructure software, systems and semiconductor companies. He focuses on all flavors of virtualization and the cloud, and also covers the intersection of these technologies with various types of storage, including Fibre Channel and iSCSI based SANs. Jeff advises clients on issues ranging from product and competitive positioning to messaging and go-to-market initiatives, and helps companies to work through challenging product and technology transitions. Prior to joining Taneja Group, Jeff spent five years as Vice President of Marketing and later Vice President of Corporate Strategy at VMware, a leading provider of virtual infrastructure software acquired by EMC in 2004. Earlier in his career, Jeff held senior management positions at DG Systems, Dataquest, MIPS, and HP. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and Computational Sciences from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard.

Jeff Boles

Sr. Analyst / Director – Validation Services

Jeff joins Taneja Group from a broad background of hands-on operational IT management and infrastructure engineering, bringing to the group over 20 years of deep experience within the trenches of practicing IT. Jeff’s experience crosses the gamut of operational IT encompassing IT governance, operations management, project management, infrastructure architecture, SAN engineering, and process re-engineering in financial, healthcare, professional services, and government sectors. Following a position as a director of an infrastructure and application consulting practice at CIBER, Jeff most recently worked as an IT Manager with a special focus on storage management at the City of Mesa, near Phoenix, Arizona. Today, Jeff performs analyst work for the Taneja Group and coordinates the Technology Validation Service, designed to objectively evaluate storage solutions in the real world.

Christine Taylor

Analyst

Christine brings over a decade of industry and communications expertise to the Taneja Group. She has researched and written extensively on the role of technology in eDiscovery, compliance and governance, and information management. She specializes in taking complex technical concepts and clarifying them for technical and non-technical readers. Christine previously served as a systems administrator for Avery Dennison’s Scientific Computing division. From there she entered technical journalism as a senior editor for Computer Technology Review and served as editor-in-chief of Storage Management Solutions. As a marketing communications consultant, she worked with companies like EMC and CommVault. Christine received her BA from Westmont College and her MA from Fuller.

Tara Hassard

Customer Relations Manager

Tara is a Research Assistant and Customer Relations Manager. She is the primary interface to clients and handles all scheduling for analysts. She also assists analysts with research projects. Tara has a BS in Business Administration from Mt. Ida College in Newton, MA. and has been with Taneja Group since early 2003.

Nevin Taneja

Media Marketing Coordinator

Nevin has been with Taneja Group since May of 2008. Nevin interacts daily with clients, prospects, PR and press.  He assists with analyst projects, maintains the Taneja Group website, contributes to Taneja Group sales and marketing efforts, leads the Taneja Group social media campaign, and attends trade shows and conferences when needed. He also takes care of a broad spectrum of administrative duties. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BA degree in Environmental Studies.
